This is a drawing essay in which the author, now in her 50s, writes her first “raw” text, draws her first “poorly drawn” pictures, and compiles her own story into a book for the first time. It recounts the author’s joyful dual-nationality marriage with her German husband, “Mabak,” who is the same age as her younger brother, the seasonal psychological changes she experiences while traveling between Germany and Korea, and the small incidents that arise from her loneliness as a foreigner and cultural differences. There are no special events or grand turning points. Instead, it is simply, “Sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and some days just ordinary.” The book captures the genuine emotions that emerge from such everyday life through words and illustrations.
