Part 3 focuses on the life of Chun-hee, Geum-bok’s mentally disabled daughter, who returns to a dilapidated brick factory after her mother’s release from prison. As the author states, “This entire story is a tale of revenge.” From beginning to end, the novel features a gaunt old woman who died harboring a deep grudge, and the plot is structured so that she leads the protagonist to ruin.

Piece by piece, dozens of episodes follow one after another. It feels as though all the “stories floating around the world” have been gathered together—a mix of old tales heard from grandparents, legends and myths from storybooks, plotlines reminiscent of TV serials, and bizarre internet memes.
